Becoming an Idol - CASTING SIMS (SUBMISSIONS CLOSED) An upcoming Let's Play series by Elle Plays on Youtube
Maxis Music is holding open trainee auditions for their first global girl group based out of San Myshuno/Del Sol Valley (Seoul/LA).
I am super excited to announce a new LP that I have been working on! This series will follow Valentina's journey of becoming an idol. Although the girls will be following a k-pop training program, those who debut will become a part of a global girl group (similar to VCHA & KATSEYE)
Here are the requirements for submitting a sim:
female
sim must be a teen or young adult (16 to 20 years old)
no cc or minimal cc (I will be using my own cc if I do not already have it)
outfits for each occasion
likes/dislikes selected
in the description please include a little background on them, their age, their strength (vocal, dance, rap, visuals), trainee experience (if any), and their ethnicity
tag your sim with #ellexplaystrainees in the gallery
Here are some important things to know if your sim is selected:
you must be okay with me making edits to your sim to match my aesthetic and the gameplay progress
you must be okay with how your sims will be portrayed. i follow the natural flow of the game, but will need to intervene for storyline purposes (this includes ranking trainees and sending those not improving home. this is nothing personal, again just for the purpose of the series)
Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing your sims! 😊🤍

Things I've Consciously Manifested
Getting into a nursing program.
Passing my vocational nurse licensure exam on the first try (this one I affirmed and scripted like crazy).
Acceptance into a registered nursing (RN) program (this one was crazier to me because all the programs I knew of, it was competitive, had waitlisting, I didn't qualify grades-wise, but I persisted and randomly someone told me of an RN program where it just requires high school diploma, NO prerequisites, and passing a pre-entrance exam.)
Major depression that has affected me in my teens and well into my mid 20s.
Moving out and finding an apartment.
My current boyfriend with traits/qualities I desired.
Moving in with same boyfriend.
Credit card debt being paid after visualizing balances with zeroes (to be fair, I always held the belief my brother is always there to bail me out, but he CAME TO ME and asked about my finances out of the blue when I started visualizing).
Visualized receiving a sum of money in my bank account. This one was crazy because I don't know how that would even happen, but I persisted anyway and all of a sudden my boyfriend bought me a car. I had to sell my old one and I got about the same amount I visualized.
Visualized then manifested the final exam score I wanted.
Randomly getting someone else's package from another state and it was full of items I liked (not my fault it ended up in the wrong place!) and getting free coffee when that week I just kept affirming I'm lucky and fortunate.
Random free dessert at Olive Garden when affirming again I'm lucky and life only unfolds in my favor.
Knowing I was going to eventually get an upgraded iPhone and did (but unexpectedly as a gift from my dad).
A patient I disliked that caused me and others a lot of stress transferred to another nursing facility.
Same patient being more behaved when I would affirm having a calm and relaxing shift and I'm protected from negative energy.
A job opportunity after visualizing myself in that specific work environment (EVEN IN AWFUL CIRCUMSTANCES BECAUSE MY BOSS STOPPED SCHEDULING ME LIKE.. HELLO, IS THIS LIKE GHOST-FIRING?)
Getting paid more than what was initially listed in my job offer letter when that initial rate was trash honestly but at the time I accepted it out of desperation.
My cat not requiring surgery when they suggested it for possible intestinal obstruction, but I declined in favor of another imaging test the next morning. The ultrasound was then clear and he went home with me.
Having a good clinical experience with the good, nice instructors all the time when the last ones were kinda ass with rude ones. That time I just affirmed I'm gonna have a great time at clinicals and just keep getting good instructors and then it happened!!

Show concept: The Adventures of Supernova
The show is a lot like a sci-fi version of The Owl House, since that was one of my main inspirations alongside Guardians of the Galaxy and Steven Universe. I've always wanted to write a space story, but because my writing writing style isn't as descriptive as it should it, I never knew how. But now that I've started screenwriting, which focuses on more on visuals than internally (like thoughts).
I know I'm getting ahead of myself but below are what are going to happen in the seasons of the show. It will be animated (obviously), most definitely in the art style of shows like Star vs the forces of evil or, as said before, the owl house.
Pilot- Indie's origin story
Season 1: Supernova fighting villains as well as adjusting to life on Earth
Season finale- a big fight against the main antagonist, Agent Cross, though she is defeated by another superpowered kid named Kai who shoots her with a freeze Ray. Ends on cliffhanger.
Season 2- Indie wakes up back in Space and is forced to join SKY (Strategic Knowledge for Youth), a training facility for other superpowered teens run by the government. There, she meets Nancy, a chaotic but morally grey shapeshifter and Kai, the water bender who helped bring her here as well as Agent Cross whi is behind SKY, who know goes by Nathan. Indie doesn't trust anyone and deals with extreme homesickness and dread. She plans to escape.
Season finale: Indie, Kai and Nancy escape SKY, though many of the cadets are left behind.
Season 3: They return back on Earth and stay in hiding with Indie's dad and his girlfriend. The first few episode are about Indie helping Kai and Nancy adjust to Earth as she did, before they properly plan how to save the other kids from the program as well as being hunted them by Nathan and the cadets still loyal to him.
Season finale: Indie, Kai and Nancy lead a team to save the other SKY cadets. But there's a traitor, someone too loyal to SKY and has been secretly feeding him info on their whereabouts, leading them straight into a trap. After a big fight scene, the facility eventually self-destructs, Nathan barely escapes and it leaves the question: is SKY truly gone?
That's all for now, folks. Updates on the pilot, titled Supernova: Starborn will be coming soon!

Hello Krad. You are a massive inspiration to me, and I have adored your art ever since stumbling across it a couple of months ago. I have a love for early 2000's media, and was wondering if you could talk a bit about how making art around FE9's time was like! I would love to be able to recreate the aesthetic of games from around the early 2000's, they just have a unique atmosphere to me that I really love. Thank you in advance.
oh wow, you are so very kind to say so, and so eloquently! ;_;
early 2000's... now that was a special time. i think the biggest difference is how utterly small the world felt back then, online. limited.
i read a good article recently how portal (and the infamous 'the cake is a lie' meme) percolated in a very specific time of the internet where people across the globe were just getting online in larger waves than the true diehard nerds and outcasts before, but it was still absurdly cozy. that meme went viral across the entire internet in a way that i truly don't think could ever happen again, since everyone was figuratively rubbing shoulders with each other - shoot, even 2010-era tumblr? i knew everyone in the main #fireemblem tag.
media limitations were remarkably similar - most teens had maybe seen all but two classic anime series before getting online, especially if you were out in the rural areas / on the east coast versus the west where the hot anime was being bootlegg'd before youtube was a thing. seeing a new series or getting your hands on the truly quality titles was more precious than diamonds. you were obsessed with the same show for genuine decades.
deviantART (where i was right before then) was a unique incubator similar to that - where young teens were getting influenced for the first time by art styles, resources and inspiration that their parents, teachers, and grandparents steeped in local visual traditions could not dream of. people arrived with very strikingly specific art styles you could tell who was raised in korea, russia, france, etc very easily - just as easily as you could tell who spent decades in ff7 fen versus naruto.
occasionally clumsy were those first attempts. but the drawings were genuine, and it was the next chapter in a very interesting visual dialogue between the old guard of illustrators (who only drew physically and were trained in local painting and inking traditions) and the new crop of teens hungry for the taste of dynamism and emotion they had seen in animanga. hungry to mix and match.
it was also truly a bridge from the tactile-first world to the digital-first world. nowadays like microplastics - you really can't go anywhere without running into a toy or trend or game or a drawing that hasn't been influenced to some degree by a dozen different other digital ideas before it reached you-the viewer.
in a way, since you're talking about recreating aesthetics, let's go back to the "limited" word.
limited is a good concept.
some of the best art i've seen consistently uses limitations. limitations of only using one medium, only using three default tools in your painting software (like dodge and burn since digital brushes were either crude or nonexistent). pull up programs like the Gimp (it's what I used back then for forum signatures and hasn't changed all that much) - limit yourself with specific tools of that era. look at isutoshi's hentai from about then (if that's within your bandwidth) and notice all the comic sans fonts everywhere-since nobody had gotten around to making specific manga fonts. limit yourself to being inspired by one or two artists from the 80's.
those limitations and patiently asking why (like you're doing now) will get you so very far ~
#not art#humorously related: whoever called sephiroth the sans of 2001 aged me like twenty years (but accurate)

Mentioned to my therapist a few weeks back that I had a bunch of stuff I was looking to donate. She mentioned a friend of hers had just started a new group for LGBTQ+ teens and that they might could use some of it.
Got in touch with them and took a literal truck full of stuff over yesterday. Boardgames, puzzles, a metric ton of perler beads, a truly stupid amount of yarn, my old electric piano (I got a new one a few months back), a box of books… Apparently someone else had donated a piano before but it didn’t work, so she said the kids would be super hype.
They’re big on games, music, and art/crafts there, so I really hope they get a lot of use out of it all. And a plus for me, I can actually see the floor in my office now! I’m trying to cut back on visual clutter and also just stuff in general because I’m hyperaware of all the things I have that I don’t use. So much of it has been buried in my office since we moved a few years ago.
It was just so fucking nice to be able to contribute to a group like that. Especially with all the bullshit going on right now. They don’t even have a website in order to protect these kids and their program. Fuck, I’m just so glad these kids have somewhere safe they can be their authentic selves.
I’m seriously going to consider volunteering with them and/or seeing if there’s anything else they need.
#this made me so fucking happy#even if I was panic boxing most of it up all weekend lmao#living that adhd life lol#shoutout to my husband for helping me take everything over#hismercy’s musings#life stuff

Prince of Shadows, Lord of Thieves by alkat
Fandom: The King's Avatar | 全职高手
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Category: Gen
Words: 1 929
Once upon a time, their exploits were immortalized by artists and writers across the tapestry of history. Once upon a time, they were worshipped as gods and reviled as demons. None of that stopped the Met from stealing all their shit.
About the Book
FONTS: Alegreya [Google Fonts], Lato [Google Fonts]
IMAGES: all art made by myself @greenhorn-art for this fic
MATERIALS: regular ol' printer paper (8.5"x11", 20lb, 96 bright); ~2-2.5mm binder's board; Neenah cardstock (8.5"x11", 65lb, bright white); Cialux bookcloth (black); waxed linen thread (30/3 size, white); wheat paste (1:4 flour:water); paste wax (from a friend, unknown ingredients&quantities, some kind of wax and turpentine/mineral spirits)
PROGRAMS USED: Affinity Publisher 2; Affinity Designer 2; Bookbinder JS | Renegade's Community Imposer (settings: Quarto, snug against binding edge, custom signatures of 2, 1, 2 sheets).
Text & QR codes printed with colour laser printer (duplex, flip long edge), images printed with inkjet printer. QR codes generated with LibreOffice Writer, snipped, saved, and inserted where needed.
BINDING: quarto (quarter-letter) size, sewn board binding with french link stitch and breakaway spine.
.
So this one all started because the visual of HST's outfit was so fun that I was possessed by a visceral need to draw it. Inspiration slapped me across my mind's eye, and much like a medieval knight being slapped in the face by a glove (which didn't actually happen, that's a myth that sprung from the throwing down of a gauntlet. but that's beside the point), I felt bound to take up the challenge. Which lead me to draw a few more, and then I ended up binding the whole thing.
(Also, I find it really amusing that the famous Terracotta Warriors were just storage for YXs stuff. And the gang going 'shopping' at various exhibits for gifts for friends/family,, like that sure is SOME window shopping! I can hear it now: 'Oooh I'll take one one those SMASH, and that SHATTER, and throw in some of those CRASH, they're going to love these! 😇'. All in all, it was a fun little read, and fun little project! :D)
About the Art
Because this was initially a one-off drawing I tried a new art style (and struggled to at least not stray too far for the rest). It was fun and helped me think more about shape and visual focus, instead of being caught up in the details.
The crow (based off of image ID: 4039963 from Rawpixel) and the red umbrella on the front cover were filled curves made with the pen tool. The illustrations' poses were based off of a combination of images found on Google and photos taken by myself.
Pinterest is awful for sources, but it would have been handy to pin the references I'd googled. Only remembered to save the one of a man sitting at a desk. (I deliberately searched for someone sitting with bad posture because YX is described as being "slumped" over the desk. I figure that since "the laws of physics held no meaning to ["cursed souls eschewed by the natural order"]", they'd also be immune to mundane things like discomfort from sitting hunched over for too long. Back pain images were a gold mine! All I had to do was choose one with lighting that would give me a silhouette.)
The Myriad Manifestations Umbrellas and illustrations were drawn in Procreate.
I opted for a more plain umbrella design because it's not (presumably) a fantastical weapon in this story. Though the initial version did have YX cradling the donghua!MMU.
For the scene breaks I inserted the images, pinned them inline as character, and adjusted height and baseline in the pinning menu to fit.
The author wrote one scene break differently than the others, using multiple empty paragraphs instead of just one. Following suit, I used a different image for that particular break. I wanted to reference vampires somewhere, so for that break I made two bloody spots resembling bite marks. The blood spots were made with a group of shapes in Designer.

On cover design:
Because the MMU is what sparks the whole heist, I wanted it on the front cover.
Earlier iterations involved a full cover spread with a man's shadow standing before a shattered glass case, with a plaque mounted on the wall to the left providing information. The plaque was formatted like a museum label and had the author, date published, title, event collection, and story description. I'd also added a QR code to it. Ultimately, I abandoned the concept because it was difficult to decipher what is was when only looking a one cover at a time.
My second idea for the cover would have been a bookcloth-only cover with a cut-out of the MMU on the front, acting like a window showing off an image of the MMU on paper below it. (Inspired by the work of a number of folks over on Renegade's Discord. Here's a few examples gleaned from a quick search: szynkaaa's lung cutouts, some of EHyde's books, and the front cover of Spock's massive all-in-one TGCF). As fun as that would have been to try out, I felt it didn't quite suit the style of the art so I nixed that too.
Eventually I landed on the back cover design with the Met exhibition webpage. At last, I felt that the back & white and simple-shapes-background went with the artwork. The webpage viewed on the phone is based off of the Met's actual website. I took a snip/screenshot of the Met's logo from the banner at the top, then looked at their exhibitions' pages and eyeballed it to create my own. (Threw in the QR because I wanted the easy access to the fic online on the back cover). I chose to use a phone screen rather than I computer monitor because it worked better composition-wise. And besides, while YX may be allergic to owning a phone, SMC is not. I imagine that she saw the news while on her phone then messaged him.
The front cover came together after that. An umbrella for the MMU, and a pop of red. One of YX's messenger crows. A black shape in the background similar to the back cover's, sort of creating a spotlight over the umbrella and placing the rest of the cover in shadow.
Trying New Things: Applying a protective finish to printed covers
Over on the Renegade Bindery Discord, folks have spoken about using a beeswax & turpentine/mineral spirits 50-50 mix to seal printed covers (thank you Kate). According to my dad that's just a paste wax, so he threw 3 different ones at me and said 'have at it'.
I tested them out using the same paper and inkjet I'll use for the cover. I was looking at 1) whether the paste wax affected the paper colour or print quality, and 2) the finish. After applying one coat each and buffing them out I had my winner. Then I applied & buffed two more coats to it and tested 3) water resistance by dripping tea on it. The liquid beaded up and wiped away without staining -- good, three coats will work nicely.
(Test results: Mystery paste wax from a friend wins.
The commercial SC Johnson Paste Wax Original formula (intended for woodworking) has a nice dry shiny finish, but coloured the paper slightly brown -> disqualified
My dad's homemade stuff has a nice shiny/satin finish and didn't change paper's colour, but it felt slightly tacky even after buffing it -- maybe I didn't buff it enough?
The gifted paste wax has a matte finish, didn't change paper's colour (in the image below this one has 3 coats. The paper is now slightly off-white, but still acceptable), and while not as dry-to-touch as the Johnson it was not as tacky as the other homemade stuff.)

When I print out my quarto covers, I print front and back covers side-by-side on the same page*, with some guides to ensure I'm cutting and gluing in the correct place. (The guides mark the boundaries of the covers and start of the turn-ins, and stop at the edge of where I cut. Before cutting I flip it over to mark the guides [see marks indicated in image below] on the wrong side and connect them so I can see where to glue/place book. Then flip it back over to cut, right side up.)
*I'm being economical here at the cost of possible warping damage. This layout means that I'm only using one sheet of paper, but the grain is running in the wrong direction (across the book instead of preferred head-to-tail/top-bottom). This could cause warping issues, but I'm OK with that. I'm hoping that by just gluing at the edges, instead of pasting down the whole thing, warping will be minimized. (I use wrong-grain endpapers most of the time with larger books anyways).
I applied the paste wax before cutting out the covers, working carefully to avoid accidentally creasing/bending the paper (which happened twice, but it was minimal and I hardly notice it). Doing so before cutting ensured that the cover material was completely covered. Even the turn-ins -- something I later came to regret. After all, wax is used specifically so that things don't stick to it. It made it rather difficult to drum on the endpapers because I was trying to glue something down onto a waxy surface. It all worked out in the end -- perhaps due to the fact that there were multiple layers of wheat paste which could adhere to each other, followed by being squashed in a press.

So I’ve been thinking of the EarthSpark children’s books again.

Besides the Guidebook, these two seem to be the only ones out atm that are original stories and not recaps/adaptions of episodes of the cartoon. I personally prefer original stories set roughly during the cartoon’s universe, and to no one’s surprise I’m naturally a big fan of the RiD15 books being all original stories.

However, my nitpick with the EarthSpark books is they’re too short and … safe. There’s no real conflict or if there is one, like Racetrack Recon, it’s resolved instantly…
Now kids books or not, I think most of us want some kind villain for the Autobots to fight, which the RiD books excelled in. My favorites being Scuzzard from above, Liege Maximo starting trouble because he was bored and needed a cheap thrill, and Drift meeting up with his old Decepticon crew. So what can the EarthSpark books do?
Well for starters:

Use Swindle. He’s perfect for low scale conflict, and you can get a lot of mileage out of him starting trouble with a guest star that the Terrans have to stop. Obviously you could experiment with other villains besides him, but still.
Book idea 1: Items have been going missing from Witwicky. The culprits are Swindle and Chop Shop.

Besides trying to make a quick buck, they also seek to steal important GHOST tech to benefit the Decepticons still roaming the Earth. Dot and Optimus have to keep Croft and Schloder distracted so the Terrans can put a stop to Chop Shop’s kleptomania.
Book Idea 2: The Decepticons need energy if they plan to still take over Earth and stick it to Megatron and GHOST. Swindle, seeing an opportunity to make some moolah, gets Octane and RatBat to join him on a fuel syphoning scheme.

I feel like it’d be a Jawbreaker and Grimlock story as a gag on fossil fuel.
Book Idea 3: Revision of Recon where Swindle fixes the race using the RiD15 originated Stunticons. I already talked about this one.
Book Idea 4: Tarantulas runs afoul of an old lab partner, the insane Autobot scientist Flame.

(For a potential toy, I feel Flame would be a hybrid design of these two, taking more from the one on the right for ease of toy design.) Flame, fed up with the humans treatment of Transformers, decides to release a Cyber-Virus bio weapon Tarantulas developed during the Great War, and use it to Cyber Form Earth into something more palatable. Tarantulas needs Nightshade, Wheeljack and Hashtag’s help in a race against the clock to defeat Flame’s mad ambitions. Akin to RiD15 Grimlock with Simacore, Nightshade gets their first arch rival in Flame.
Book Idea 5: Nightshade and Sam team up to take down crime in Philadelphia, playing up a bit of the superhero side to the owl. Playful parody of 60’s Batman, using Animated supervillains like Angry Archer and Nanosec.

The supervillains are part of a larger scheme by the Decepticon Malignus.

Of which Nightshade and Sam need to call in the rest of the “Teen Terrans” and Bumblebee to help deal with.
Book Idea 6: Optimus Prime’s trailer/Combat Deck starts malfunctioning and causing a rampage around town, causing a headache for GHOST and the Autobots.

It’s discovered the jailhouse Decepticons implanted a computer virus into the trailer via Bombshell’s Cerebro Shells to spite the Autobots. Twitch, Robbie and Hashtag have to jack in and defeat the computer virus within, Kremzeek, in a video game showdown while Jawbreaker, Mo, Thrash, Nightshade and Megatron try to contain the Combat Deck on the outside. There’s a fun visual of Roller effortlessly pulling the trailer around town in its rampage.
Book Idea 7: GHOST develop their own Navi program in TORQ III from studying Cybertronian technology and Teletraan 1.

A hybrid of the G1 episode, Marvel UK’s Raiders of the Last Ark, and TFP’s Flying Mind, TORQ finds GHOST inefficient and seeks to apprehend every remaining Decepticon on the planet with his own methods, regardless of the consequences to the Autobots, and humans like the Maltos. Optimus, Elita and Megatron have to stop TORQ and his mind controlled Decepticons from starting a new Machine War.
Book Idea 8: The elusive Mirage, based on the RotB version with his body being closer to RiD01 Mirage, returns and pays a visit to the Malto household to see what all the hubbub is.

Mirage, Robbie and Thrash become fast friends, and team up to put a stop to the latest scheme of Swindle’s. Battletrap, Transit and Scorponok are present as part of further RotB synergy.

Merle / Eli / Mylo
Age: Agehazy, mental age slides between teens and late twenties.
Species: Nekomimi (cat ears) android
Pronouns: they/he/it, xe/xyr, zie/hir, kit/kits/kitself, fuzz/fuzzs/fuzzself, purr/purrs/purrself, dream/dreams/dreamself, click/clicks/clickself
Identities:
Gender: Male-aligned, boyflux, mechangender, catgender/felisgender, deplegender, vaporwavic, dazecoric
Orientation: Bi-gay, quoi-aroace, aplatonic
Roles: soother, drowser, relaxer, buffer
Laid-back and easygoing, Merle's calming, soothing presence encourages people to lower their guards around kit. They still don't quite understand how others feel so comfortable around purr, but fuzz takes it in stride all the same. Mylo isn't all sunshine, though - don't touch their cat ears, or kit will become annoyed and hiss at you. Eli deeply enjoys lo-fi music and retrofuture visuals, though neon colour palettes hurt clicks eyes a little. Being a robot, he had xyr personality programmed into hir, so it finds psychology and related social science topics deeply interesting. While zie doesn't need to consume to survive, dream delights in the taste of tuna mayo sandwiches. On the other hand, it does need to sleep frequently to recharge his battery, so purr can often be found curled up in a warm area snoozing away. Despite his lack of interest in building deep connections with others and feeling repulsed at the idea of PDA, Merle is ultimately still kind-hearted and will listen to others vent and rant about their troubles. If someone somehow worms their way into kits good graces, zie will also be more inclined to protect said person from threats. In a system, this may involve Eli taking over front from vulnerable headmates, or transporting headmates who are disabled in-sys away from dangerous locations.

1, 10 and 14 for the ask game!
(Referring to this ask game)
1. What medium do you use most (if applicable, what software)?
I draw digitally the most, though I love to break out a physical sketchbook once in a while and doodle in pen! I bounce back and forth between using Procreate and Clip Studio Paint on an iPad, with Procreate being my most frequently-used program. However, I’m trying to switch over to CSP so I’m not bound to the nightmare wasteland of planned obsolescence that is Apple products 😭
10. How do you deal with artblock?
Usually artblock for me comes from a lack of inspiration, so when I’m struggling with it, I make it a point to consume a lot of visual media! Webcomics, animated pilots on YouTube, memes, pretty photos and illustrations— you name it! You need to fill your cup before you can pour from it, after all.
14. What’s your favorite thing about drawing?
Oooh, this is a tough one… If we’re talking about facets of drawing, I love character design, and want to get back into it like I used to be as a teen. But if we’re talking about drawing as a whole, I love being able to share a vague representation of the cool stuff in my head with others :>

patel fam idea dump post
Post finale of the show, Britney kinda had to shuffle what she wants to do with life once Baxter came back, heals up, and being on her grandparents farm for a year and a half. As a young teenager, she come to learn that she wants to continue in her athletic career, but doesn't have the resources or teams near by.
And since Baxter and Angela can't really go back to New York, (Baxter's long criminal record and disappearance probably got him fuckin BANNED from NY, and Angela is hiding away from the Italian mafia,) it's a bit of a struggle to accommodate her hobbies.
So, through a lot of discussion, April becomes Britney's legal guardian and stays with her and Mr. O'Neil. Through this, Britney can still go to her school, have her friends, continue track, etc. Of course, every holiday, summer, and once a month, go back to the Patel farm to see her family.
...yes this is mainly an excuse to keep britney and mikey as super close friends/sibling relationship
---
Angela was NOT comfortable sending Britney back to NY. The invasions, gangs, paranormal, it was all too much to sacrifice her daughter's safety for some track meet. Baxter, though concerned, believed Britney to be mature enough to go back on her own. Though immediately firing down the "let me go live with the turtles," he suggest maybe a boarding school, or reach out to programs who can host her.
Of course this would cause bickering for the three with vastly different ideas on how to go about it.
The final confirmation was actually through Mrs. Patel.
---
I had a visual of Angie venting her frustration and worries to her mom, and Mrs. Patel starts, "Hon, when I was Britney's age, I hitch hiked all th' way from Georgia to New York to see my aunty."
"...Okay?"
"Your father took route to a forest and went missing for a month. He came back with more weight on his back. And don't get me started on his many, many stories. Ya feel me, Angie?"
"Yeah, but-- what's the point of this??" Mrs. Patel watch her daughter brows frown. Rolling her eyes before sitting next to her, she took note of Angie's anxious tapping on the kitchen table.
"Britney is such a bright girl. We let you kids get in trouble! But our little girl earned her independence..." Angie felt her mother's hand softly place on top of her, easing her tapping. Looking up, Angie took notice to Mrs. Patel peer out the window. Following her gaze, the two sit and watch as Britney exits the woods, dragging behind her a game cart. A dead whitetail deer laid in it, tied to bars with spots of blood coating it's fur. A rifle hung over Britney's shoulder, with camo clothing becoming too tight for her growing body.
The two sat in silence, watching as Britney's experience take over her reflexes on the deer. Already gutted and blood drawn, she carefully handles the corpse with care and quickness. Skinning its fur with a sort of tenderness, Mr. Patel grabbed the corpse to finish it's butchering. Watching the young teen pick up the deer skin, she walks towards the tool shed, disappearing as soon as she enters the building.
"She's been through alot." Angie face her mother again. Mrs. Patel face rested, saying, "She almost lost her father. She almost lost you. Britney had a tough time getting used to th' backwoods." Her hand tightens around Angie's, turning to face her again, scooting the chair back as Patel lift her face close. "Britney let you and...Stockman, to make mistakes. I'm more than sure she can handle herself in New York."
---
Angela and Baxter just become local mechanics in their little farm town. Angela focus on general house maintenance while Baxter focus on being a farm equipment mechanic. As long as the community doesn't know their past, they have a really good reputation among the neighbors.
---
Mr. Patel, as brash and forward he can be with folks, is probably one of the more culturally educated men you'll meet.
He grew up in Louisiana in a superstitious town. He was raised near the woods, with stories of cryptics and spirits from multiple regions-- white folks warning of demonic forces through Christian sin. Hispanics warning him of the wandering demonic spirits who whisk away children at night. Natives warning him to take wariness of those who look like him, but show a corrupted motive. And lastly, the black community warning him to be wary of voudooism. (btw i know im using alot of cultures in this section, if any of it is wrong please yell at me, i'd rather it be right than pure assumption)
Though he took in every single warning, story, tips-- Mr. Patel was too intrigued by the "unknown" to simply ignore it.
So at 14, he went into a forest and simply disappeared.
For a month, the community searched for him, and when he came up once more, he came back with sudden wisdom than anyone could have anticipated. Sure, he's covered in previous scars, but he's shielded in animal hides and had his torn backpack filled with survival tools.
From there on, he became known among the unknown. He protects those who don't want to be seen, and they returned the favor. Mr. Patel is a rare human ally for cryptics to be protected, but its the most he can do for the ones that protected him for the month he was gone.

7 years have passed since Samurai Jack got back to the past...
Highlights of events regarding Genndy Tartakovsky and the like during this time include the following:
Genndy in interviews talked about the importance of visual storytelling (including an obvious disliking for "This is me"-type openings in animated movies), reducing dialogue in the script for a sexual animated comedy called Fixed (produced by New Line Cinema, Sony Pictures Animation, and Renegade Animation), and the viewpoint that "Character design informs posing, and it all works together."
Samurai Jack has the Checkered Past lineup on [adult swim] joined, airing on Fridays (soon to be Thursdays) at 6:00 PM... technically like around 5:59 PM, due to other Checkered Past shows having end credits time-compressed. Cartoon Network's social media accounts promoted this with a clip from EPISODE XCVIII, which is the second post they made regarding specifically Season 5 since their first one, in which they used Mao Mao x Samurai Jack fan art to promote Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time... which is now deleted due to Warner Bros. Discovery purging Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart in an effort to save $3 billion.
Speaking of WBD's animation purge: Cartoon Network Studios' building is now abandoned as the crew was forced to relocate to a new building joining Warner Bros. Animation with affiliate CNS as another cost-cutting move. The Cartoon Network logo on the building was originally moved to the new building, but it was soon sold off letter by letter.
As if things couldn't grow worse; after MGM (on the home entertainment level, still an affiliate with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment/Studio Distribution Services) turned 100, Primal Screen, the studio behind much of Cartoon Network's branding including the Powerhouse era, announced that they were to shut down (likely due to financial issues - thanks a lot Warner Bros. Discovery). Buck's Pastel / Prism / Split-Screen branding is by far the cheapest, blandest, and ugliest one CN ever used, and the negative consequences of Discovery on Turner & WB make this era of CN truly the worse, with little sign of any improvement in their branding and their programming.
Unicorn: Warriors Eternal got the ACME Night marathons and airings it was promised to have, but that is unlikely to happen again since Cartoon Network stopped at 5PM with the debut of Checkered Past, causing ACME Night to be part of [as] as well (that may be just technical laziness on Discovery's part - they're already forcing Turner channels to use Discovery's rating & closed captioned screenbugs). Any future airing of Unicorn on TV, if any, so far will remain with the [adult swim] label, even on ACME Night (even though it was supposed to be for CN).
Relative to samurai in general; the Looney Tunes Cartoons episode "Yosemite Samurai" made its TV debut on Cartoon Network, though airing minutes earlier than the 9:30 AM schedule due to longer episode lengths.
Teen Titans GO! celebrated the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros. in October 2024 (was planned for September but was pushed in part due to revisions), and apparently "JACK, SAMURAI" was on the list! Dexter and Dee Dee, along with The Powerpuff Girls (in altered versions of the 2016 models), made cameos as well.
Tara Strong (a Zionist Jew and the voice of Ashi as well as Ilana Lunis) became controversial due to posts she made and liked speaking against the attacks against Jews by the Hamas, a terrorist group in Palestine. I may suffer from flack over this, but I honestly doubt that she is ultimately racist with the people of Palestine in general - just speaking against a terrorist group in Palestine killing people of her own race. May be that we're just too woke about racism?
The Powerpuff Girls Season 10 (the Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe revival; I personally count the 2016 "reboot" as Seasons 7-9 for a number of reasons) is still in production with people from Titmouse on the crew.
Dexter's Laboratory: The Complete Series DVD is set to release in June 2024... featuring the long overdue official US DVD release of Dexter's Laboratory: Ego Trip! There was a planned US DVD release long ago.
Warner Bros. may be 101 years old now (impressive considering that Discovery put them at over 60% risk of bankruptcy by December 2023), but they're not finished with celebrating their 100th anniversary; a screening of various WB (and affiliate-owned) shorts including Cartoon Network episodes like Dexter's Laboratory and the Steven Universe pilot "The Time Thing" (on which Genndy was the timing director) was announced for Annecy 2024.
Relative to a block that Samurai Jack used to rerun on; [adult swim] announced another nostalgic block: Toonami Rewind! This is so far exclusive to anime.
Personally, Cartoon Network entering into the Pastel era was bad enough, but Discovery exercising more control of WB affiliate Turner Broadcasting System pretty much killed CN for me (regardless of the many older shows airing on special occasions that weren't rerun on the network in years and even decades). I still remain faithful to a fair extent to CN, but, as you can see, there's a lot about the animation industry that's crumbling.
I'll add more to this post if I find anything else that happened.

it rains the creator
Hi! My name is Rayne Blakeman. I am an artist living in Pittsburgh, PA.
Welcome to my Creative Counseling landing page.
Connect Ask (Tumblr users only) Services Portfolio Testimonials
Below, you will find some information about my background in creativity, my beliefs about creativity as a universal need, and my goals as a creative counselor.
Thank you for being here!!!
My background in creativity reaches far back into my youth, when I needed to be heard by someone, anyone. That someone ended up being myself, and I learned that I could express myself through art and music. I tuned in to the “little voice”, my child self that just wants to love and be loved and have fun. I would take songs I loved and change the lyrics to tell my story. I would draw little comics, my favorite characters from cartoons, and I’d draw what I imagined I would look like as a teen and an adult. Expression quickly became my best friend and the way that I would survive, and the way I could imagine a future for myself. What started as a coping mechanism became the greatest gift I would ever find. I kept listening to the little voice, and I kept choosing self expression again and again, through my art, my drawings, my words, my fashion, and my voice. I got a ukulele at age 12 and it became my favorite way to express my thoughts and feelings. If there wasn’t an outlet for my creativity to be shared, I would create one. I facilitated a talent show at my middle school just so I would have a chance to sing my songs on stage. Shortly after, I started playing local shows, and started building a foundation in my community in my town and online to share my songs and art with a larger audience. My first self-published music project was called Human Petting Zoo, and that project would go on to completely transform my life.
I carry this gift of creativity into my adulthood. I spend time writing every day, taking any preoccupied thought and getting it out, so I can let creativity flow through me with the least resistance. I am a singer and songwriter, playing many instruments and taking a liking to guitar in the last few years. I have done guest vocals on songs and albums of my friends and contemporaries. I (still) produce all of my own music and record it at home, DIY style, and distribute it myself. I am a seamstress, creating garments from my imagination or using patterns or clothes I already have to bring my ideas to life. I'm a visual and graphic artist, playing with Gimp (a photo manipulation program) and drawing with pens or colored pencils. I have taken an interest in interior design and decoration since buying a house two years ago, and have turned my office space into a haven for sacred creativity. I’ve designed a color palette and whimsical paint job for my friend’s coffee shop. I have been studying calligraphy and illuminated manuscripts, reading works by mystics of various spiritual backgrounds, learning about astrology, the human shadow, archetypes, working with tarot cards, and much more. I’ll play with whatever I can get my hands on to express myself and my unique (and in some ways universal) experience of being here.
Wherever the joy is, I follow it, and that is a creative decision I choose to make every day. I believe creativity is a key to transformation, and that creativity is a universal need. In an energetic ecosystem, each part of the ecosystem plays a vital role, just by being perfectly itself. A flower being a flower, a blade of grass being a blade of grass, a tree being a tree… You being yourself. These creative acts of authenticity bring life force into the larger whole.
I knew I had to become a creativity guide when I would hear friends make statements along the lines of, "Nothing I am making is good enough to share," or, "It's not worth the embarrassment," or, "It's not really art, I'm just a fake artist," or, "I could never make music again after what happened to me." Hearing these statements made my heart break. Whoever told them that their self expression wasn't good enough, that the way they related to the world was wrong or invalid, that they simply aren't creative, is just wrong, and probably blocked creatively themselves. Every single person, every single being, and the universe itself, is creative. Breathing is creative. And when I start to look at life through this lens, I see that even things like doing your taxes is creative, as rigid and soulless as it may seem, some people find their flames aglow from the process.
Anything can be creative if you let it flow within you, and then without you.
My main goal as a creative counselor is to guide people out of the darkness of "I'm not creative" and into the light of "I am creative, and I'm doing it right now". I will create a judgement-free space for others to be themselves unapologetically, to express things that they thought would be better left buried inside, to explore parts of themselves they might have overlooked or cast aside, and to experiment and play with possibilities never considered. Together, we will use discernment to find the paths that seem most interesting and exciting. We will learn together that our jobs as artists and creators is to create, not to judge our creations. A song is a song. In our shared experience of nurturing and recovering our creativity and finding the ways we have been blocked by past experience or by our own fears, we will both do a lot of growing and reflecting together. And so, part of my goal is to continue to grow as an artist myself through this practice. I view my life as an art project about becoming more free, and the goal of becoming more free is woven into everything I create and everyone I interact with.
Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about me. You will find more information about my services in the services page, located in the sidebar/top bar.
